Gauwyn Moyglare (1421)

Gauwyn Moyglare
Ghoul to Guy le Blanc
Lord of Norman Ireland, importation minister to Dublin

In 1412, your family moved into a higher station as part of a deal. A duke wanted to marry your sister. As part of the deal to win your sister, King Henry V granted you the task of administrating Norman Ireland from Dublin proper.

Before you were able to leave on your assignment you found and married the love of your life, Isabella. Henry also ordered you to accompany him on his campaign to crush the French and end the long war once and for all. At Agincourt (St. Crispin’s Day, 1415), you were critically injured and rescued by a man who gave you a gift that keeps on giving – he made you his ghoul.

That was six years ago. Now, the Normans are virtually gone. They are Irish now. So you’re stuck in Dublin, trying to be important. Last year’s Irish harvest was horrible, so the Irish beyond the Pale are restless. Worse, there is a plague going around Dublin. It looks like it is from the water, but no one knows for sure.

Your advisor has arranged a meeting with the ruling clan (O’Reilly’s) in Dun Boyne. This will allow you to trade some of your imported Barley for fresh water from Ireland. The meeting is set up as a dance/joust, and there are serious stakes involved. Cormac O’Reilly has offered his sister to the winner. If an Englishman wins, you may have leverage in your negotiations. If an Irishman wins, they may gain the confidence to invade Dublin.

Now for toils of being leader:

1: Your other advisor (Michael Phillips, Tremere) is really wearing on you. He has good advice, but your bond is to Guy. If only you could break that bond and implement some of Michael’s ideas.

2: The Fitzgerald’s are making land and marriage requests, but they have no available women for Valentine. They think they are entitled to compensate for losses in Meath. They just might settle for cash (which you don’t have presently). The did bring a cousin, Olyver Moore, to the Jousting competition, however…

3: The Burke’s are making the same request, but worse yet, they want their worthless cousin, Adam Smith out of their hair AND they want that pansy Nicholas Burke enlisted as an officer in the military.

4: The Brennan’s expect special treatment just because they are coming. Sarra (loosely, the Prince of Dublin) definitely wears the pants in that family and you wish you could put her in her proper place.

You hope the dance following the Joust will calm some of the nerves moving through the place. The Preston’s have been nice enough to lend you their property to hold all of the events in the next few days.

What is this?
