Adam Smith (1421)

Adam Smith
Priest, Order of the Red Dagger

You were left on the doorstep of the local abbey in Dublin in 1395. The priest hired a local woman to be your wet nurse for till you were old enough to enter the orphanage run by the local priests. The priests had high hopes for you. You showed a great intellect. You could illuminate like a master at the age of 12. Now at the age of 26 you are a full blown priest at the abbey you were raised at.
During you training, the local priest Lugaid O’Reilly took great interest in you. He showed you a secret sect within the church called the Order of the Red Dagger. You were initiated when you turned 21, by sacrificing a lamb to God. Your sect believes that the only way to fight the bringers of death in the world is to use the same evil means they use on the innocent and the weak. One of it’s main tenets is sacrifice is a good thing. Human sacrifice is the ultimate. Sometimes it is necessary to give up the lambs of God in order that the rest may live on. This may even mean that you have to make a deal with the devil to ensure the greater good.
A few weeks ago, Lugaid called on you to help with a ritual. This was to create a plague that would infect only witches. You went to the ritual with complete certainty that you were doing God’s work. Unfortunately, the plague has seemed to backfire in some way and has struck the populace of Dublin. The evil bitches have also unleashed a famine on the people in revenge for the plague sent on them. You must find out who the witches are, and how they turned your ritual around on the people of God.
While you can’t spend all your time creating rituals and such. You do have your spiritual calling to see to the needs of the faithful. Currently, you have developed a patron in Reginald Burke. He likes to hear you preach about the corruption of the world and how to save his soul. You let him know about the witches in the area so that he could protect himself. Other people in his household think your nuts, but when the Day of Judgment comes you know they won’t be laughing.
Reginald has invited you to attend the jousting event with him. He seems like such a honest and upright man that you couldn’t refuse. Besides, he always serves the best wine at such events. You might be able to convince Reginald to help you track down witches. His help would be invaluable.
This all leads to a quandary. If the Church ever found out about your sect you know it would be considered Heretical. You have been tipped off that there will be three papal Legates coming to this area to deliver a new Papal Dictum. One of the guards that will be traveling with them is named Robert Wogan. He may or may not know of your membership in the Order. You will have to show him your Red Handled Dagger to prove your membership to him. If he acts suspicious or refuses to show you his, then deal with him swiftly because you really don’t know what he looks like and it may be a trap sent by the Pope himself.
Seek aid from only those you can trust like your brethren, Bryan Brannaugh and Lugaid O’Reilly. Find out the witches secrets, and destroy their link to Satan. If they won’t reverse the harm they have done, sacrifice them one by one till they will. Lastly, turn the survivors over to the Papal Legates.

Nicholas Burke (1421)

Nicholas Burke
10th Generation Venture
Childe of Reginald Burke

About 40 years ago, when Dublin was controlled by the venture your great-great uncle decided that you would make a great devotee of his. He embraced you after a grand party. Since then, you have been his loyal followers.

20 years ago, Sarra Brennan, a Tremere slew the ‘prince’ of the city. For the last 20 years, you have had to keep quite and lay low. But to your eternal delight times are a changing. A plague has struck the peasants of Dublin, causing massive death tolls. While at the same time a famine has struck the Irish in the countryside. There is a jousting tournament being held by Cormac O’Reilly, (leader of the Irish Clans), Gauwyn Moyglare (the supposed Lord of Dublin). You know Gauwyn is really the ghoul of a Cappadocian vampire by the name of Guy Le Blanc.

Now, you finally have a good chance to prove yourself. Just win the jousting tournament. If you win the tournament, Reginald has agreed to let you take your first childe. That would be your new wife Generis, and prize of the joust. It should be fun, because if you can “adjust” your lance, you can really do damage to those silly humans. It will be quite obvious who is the strongest candidate in that tournament. Hell, you might even want to lay off a few side bets.

These are exciting time for your clan. The joust should provide perfect cover to regain power for the Venture, or so Reginald says. The political implications are somewhat beyond you, but you trust in Reginald. All you know is that the Tremere control Dublin and you don’t.

Also going with you is Bernard Smith, your brother in arms for the last 15 years. He showed up after escaping some trouble in London awhile back, but Reginald need to muscle so he didn’t ask too many question.

Reginald’s ghoul, David Walsh will be there to see to his needs, and also the faith healer Adam Smith will be coming to. For some reason, Reginald keeps him around, you’re not sure why, but he does.
